Shout is an annual faith-based conference held in Spark Arena and hosted by Equippers Church. In 2022 the conference theme ‘Right Now’ aimed to lift perspectives and bring hope and encouragement to the present.

Right Now is a theme that demands clarity and confidence. A bold call to action inspired by 18th-century newsboys and the typographic headlines of the newspaper era.

The design of Shout 22’s visual identity is both contemporary and traditional, using a combination of classical English scriptures, paired with refined typefaces that nod to the distant past. The print textures and colour treatment add further depth and playfulness when needed, combining in a front-page styled Headline frame that becomes the centre motif for the Shout 22 identity. 

A photoshop design system was created that paired the Shout Headline Frames with conference photography, brand colours and a variety of textures. This created an easy method for ‘in the moment’ social media content whilst on the ground at Shout 22.

Creative uses of the Headline Frame brought Shout 22 to life inside the Spark Arena, introducing key speakers and information whilst creating an atmosphere where people feel part of something bigger than themselves.

Wayfinding and signage emphasised readability over aesthetics, and utilised a series of coreflute plinths that stood above the foyer crowds. A simplistic black and white approach kept visual noise to a minimum and left space for in-arena sessions to shine their brightest.

Conference merch is an important keepsake for many. A series of pseudo-news outlet logos were created using the main conference messaging and partnered with graphics to tie the idea together. The goal was to avoid conference logo spam as merch, and instead explore other directions for the Right Now theme.
